Katia Chiron from the Ferme du Petit Bonheur in Nax was the driving force behind the creation of a travelling zoo.
Following numerous requests from families wishing to see the animals, Katia wanted families to be able to admire her animals and learn about them without her having to be present all the time. She wanted to give families this freedom while respecting her animals: they remain in their natural environment and it is the visitors who adapt to them.

L'idée du parc animalier
Suite à de nombreuses demandes de familles souhaitant voir des animaux lors de leurs activités, Katia souhaitait que les familles puissent admirer ses bêtes et en apprendre davantage sur ces derniers sans pour autant qu’elle ait besoin d’être présente en permanence. Tout en offrant cette liberté aux familles, le respect des animaux est maintenu puisqu'ils restent dans leur milieu naturel et que ce sont les visiteurs qui s’adaptent à leurs déplacements sur les pâturages.
Pourquoi un zoo itinérant ?
Dans un secteur restreint et paisible, plusieurs parcelles ont été sélectionnées. Les visiteurs trouveront les animaux sur l’une de ces zones, selon la période de l’année et l'état du pâturage.
Cela permet de maintenir le confort de vie des animaux, c’est-à-dire de leur offrir un cadre de vie au plus proche de leur nature, sur lequel se nourrir, se reposer et déambuler le plus librement possible.
La mise en place du zoo
La mise en place du parc animalier à Nax Région s’est effectuée en plusieurs étapes. Dans un premier temps, nous avons contacté les propriétaires des différentes parcelles sur lesquelles se trouveront les animaux. C'est avant tout grâce à ceux-ci que ce projet de zoo itinérant a pu démarrer. Katia a ensuite sélectionné différentes races d'animaux de ferme. Enfin, des panneaux explicatifs et ludiques ont été réalisés par l’Office du Tourisme.

Where are the animals ?
In a limited area of the beautiful plateau of Nax, several grassy plots have been selected. Visitors will find the animals on one of these paddocks, depending on the time of the year. This allows to maintain the quality of life of the animals.
The setting up was done in various stages. First, we contacted the owners of the different parcels where the animals were supposed to be kept. Thanks to them, this project was able to start. Then, Katia selected different breeds, among which the potentially forgotten Swiss breeds (ProSpecieRara breeds), because today, the most productive races are privileged by the farmers.
What animals will you be able to see ? ...Sheep, ponies, goats, rabbits, dogs, chickens and guinea pigs are waiting for you ! Keep your eyes open !
The farm animals are located in different areas of the itinerant animal park, depending on their needs and the state of the pastures on which they graze.
