The Adonis is native to Eurasia. The Adonis is a protected species in Valais for its rarity. The Adonis is only present in a few places; including Nax.

The Rhone valley is the only region in Switzerland that meets the requirements for Adonis; dry meadows, meagre, limestone substrate, hot summers, cold winters and low rainfall.

In Nax you can discover the Adonis in spring. All you have to do is go under the village, at the place called Pramillon.
