The Bear House

Located near the church of Mase.

Located near the church of Mase, the façade of the Bear House is adorned with an authentic bear’s paw. This one is nailed on this beautiful building and browned by the hot sun of Valais. Setting aside the world of tales and legends, we learn that this paw indeed belongs to one of the last plantigrades killed in the Val d’Hérens in around 1830.
