The school in Nax is decorated with a mural, created in 1996 by Amanda Mayor. This Argentinian artist, who can trace her roots back to the village through one of her ancestors who emigrated in 1876, stayed with members of her family in Nax during the festivities to celebrate the 700th anniversary of the Confederation and the reunion of the descendants of the Valais region living in Argentina. The painting depicts scenes of everyday life in the village, in which the Becs de Bosson (the highest point of Nax at 3 148 m) can be seen. The last scene in the lower part of the mural shows the arrival of the artist’s family in Argentina, welcomed by the local community.
